September 21st and 28th
Instructor: Elizabeth Stettler
Tuition: $150
Minimum enrollment: 4

A list of materials will be sent to enrolled students.

This class covers the basics of relief printmaking techniques using linoleum blocks. You will learn a traditional printmaking method exploring the beautiful qualities of a hand carved plate. This class is perfect for both beginners and advanced. While some experience with other printmaking techniques can be helpful, this workshop is open to all levels.

Inspired by science and nature, Elizabeth Stettler brings her subjects to life through very detailed imagery in the stark, black and white world of relief printmaking. Her blocks are cut by hand and then printed using a wooden spoon with ink on thin, lightweight paper. While the carved block can be printed using a press, it is not required and can be done at home. Elizabeth enjoys the DIY flexibility that this process affords.

Elizabeth currently lives and works in Austin, Texas. She grew up in the Midwest and received her BFA from the University of Iowa where she specialized in sculpture and printmaking.

Class will be held in WPA’s new studio space at the Canopy Art Complex.
