These Solar Prints combine traditional and
modern processes. The images start off as
digital photographs, which are then
transferred onto transparencies with a
copier. The transparency is laid over a solar
plate and exposed to light. The plate is
washed and hardened. When the plate is
dry it is inked and run through an intaglio
press like an etching. This modern process of
creating solar plates uses non-toxic light
and water and is combined with the intaglio
press, which has been in use for centuries.
