Medium: Serigraph with MX Dyes
Plate/Image Size: 11 x15" Edition Size: 3 BAT Date: 9/2009 Printer: Artist Signature: ruthie Powers - front Paper: Reeves BFK 15 x 11 11 Ink: MX Dyes Process/Description:
Improvisational Screen Printing with MX Dyes was developed by Kerr Grabowski and is used mainly by artists on fabric. It involves preparing a textured screen with thickened MX Dyes. After the thickened dyes dry, they are screen printed. Each print is different because the dye on the screen breaks down with each print. I used two sets of screens to print two different layers.
Artist's Comments:
Usually I screen print onto fabric, so it was very different for me to work with paper. I tested several 100% cotton rag papers to find the one that showed the dyes best. Each print is unique. It is a greatly varied edition.
